Updated on 16/10/2019

The Valdivia festival (7-13 Oct) in partnership with the Institut français of Chile and the ACID (Association for Independent Cinema Distribution) will present a programme of 6 films supported by the ACID and presented at the Cannes Festival parallel selection, the ACID Cannes.

The ACID is an association of filmmakers which for 26 years has supported the distribution of independent films in cinemas and works to help these films and their creators encounter audiences.

The films on the programme

Burning Ghost (“Vif-Argent”) by Stéphane Batut

A Violent Desire for Joy (“Un violent désir de bonheur”) by Clément Schneider

Coby by Christian Sonderegger

The Girl Without Hands (“La jeune fille sans mains”) by Sébastien Laudenbach

I Am the People (“Je suis le peuple”) by Anna Roussillon

Age of Panic (“La Bataille de Solférino”) by Justine Triet

All of these films will be screened in Chile for the first time.

This programme will be supported by filmmakers Stéphane Batut (Burning Ghost) and Clément Schneider (A Violent Desire for Joy) who will also present their films in Santiago, Chile after Valdivia.

Stéphane Batut will then fly to the Morelia festival to present Burning Ghost. Each year the Mexican festival presents the winner of the Jean Vigo Prize, of which Stéphane Batut was the lucky recipient in 2019.
