Launch of the visual identity for the Africa 2020 Season

The Institut français unveils the visual identity for the Africa 2020 Season created by Senegalese photographer Omar Victor Diop.

The creative concept

The visual territory of the Africa 2020 Season was designed by the Insign agency and created by portrait photographer Omar Victor Diop. 

In line with the Season’s programming, the artist wanted to illustrate the modernity, innovation and creativity of the African continent.

This is Africa

A veritable invitation to (re)discover the creativity and innovation of the African continent, the Africa 2020 Season is structured around 100 cultural, scientific, economic and sporting events and projects planned from 1 June to 31 December 2020 throughout France.

This pan-African season, implemented by the Institut français, is based on multidisciplinary programming co-constructed by African professionals in partnership with French institutions.

Designed around the major challenges of the 21st century, this Season highlights the innovative and creative capacity of the 54 African states in the following three main sectors of activity: culture and ideas, research and economy and the art of living (illustrated by the three portraits of visual identity).

So this Africa 2020 Season is an “invitation to look at and understand the world from an African point of view”, as N’Goné Fall, General Commissioner for the Season, points out.
