The Institut français is the international partner of the festival and carries first films demonstrating innovative and creative cinematography beyond its borders.
A collection of 20 films, for which 5-year screening rights have been acquired by the Institut français (16 works of fiction, including 3 new films from 2019, 1 documentary and 4 short films), either from its competitive selection or from its workshops, is offered for the organisation of screenings around the world. These first films celebrate a cinema d'auteur marked by freedom of tone and form, stories between reality and fiction.
The new films added to the collection this year are:
- C'est ça l'amour by Claire Burger (2018) with Bouli Lanners (Angers First Film Festival Selection; Venice Days Best Film prize)
- Deux fils by Félix Moati (2017) with Benoit Poelvoerde, Vincent Lacoste, Mathieu Capella
- Les Drapeaux de papier by Nathan Ambrosioni (2018) with Guillaume Gouix, Noémie Merlant
