La Cinémathèque Afrique supports the Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO), which has been celebrating African and African diaspora cinema for 50 years.

For the 50th anniversary of the Festival, the Institut français’ Cinémathèque Afrique presents

7 restored heritage films :

  • Afrique sur Seine by Paulin S. Vieyra (1955)
  • Lamb by Paulin S. Vierya (1963)
  • Cabascabo by Oumarou Ganda (1969)
  • Le Franc by Djibril Diop Mambéty (1994)
  • La Petite vendeuse de soleil by Djibril Diop Mambéty (1988)
  • Fad’Jal by Safi faye (1979)
  • Le Retour d’un aventurier by Moustapha Alassane (1966)

as well as a retrospective of 10 films from the first edition in 1969, screened outdoors at the CNA Village (Mobile Digital Cinema) and in the working-class neighbourhoods of Ouagadougou.
