Nuit des idées 2021
The 6th Nuit des Idées takes place on 28 January 2021 on the theme of “Closer”, with an invitation issued to over 100 countries and 200 towns and cities around the world bringing artists, intellectuals and representatives of civil society together to debate our relationships with space, new forms of solidarity with which to tackle the public health, economic and social crisis, or the building of contemporary – and distanced – social forms.

French Pavilion at the 17th Biennale di Venezia
The French Pavilion has been entrusted to the architect Christophe Hutin and his multidisciplinary team, presenting the contributions arising from a laboratory of “resident communities at work”.

The Institut français at the Cannes Festival
In 2020, La Fabrique Cinéma, which supports young talent from Southern and emerging countries, was transformed into an online programme and the Cinémas du Monde pavilion into a virtual one. 2021 should see the return of this key meeting place for partners of the Institut français, the diplomatic network and international professionals, while reaping the benefits of this digital experience.

General Assembly on French-Language Books
Initially planned for 2020, the General Assembly on French-Language Books Around the World will take place this year in Tunis. This initiative, which falls under the umbrella of the presidential plan for the French language and multilingualism, aims to bring together a wide variety of stakeholders from the international world of books to promote access to books and reading for all French speakers and to develop a French-language publishing sector that is dynamic, balanced and fosters the creation, dissemination and circulation of books, publications and authors.

The French Season in Japan
Reprogrammed due to the public health crisis and the postponement of the Tokyo Olympic Games, the French Season in Japan takes place from October 2021 to March 2022 throughout the archipelago, from Okinawa to Hokkaido.
