i-Portunus is a pilot project whose aim is to determine the best operational framework for a European mobility scheme for artists and culture professionals. The pilot is being implemented on behalf of the European Union by the Goethe-Institut, in consortium with the Institut français, Izolyatsia and Nida Art Colony of Vilnius Academy of Arts.
As part of our research, a first call for Applications was launched, for short-term mobilities in the fields of the Performing Arts and the Visual Arts. Over 1,200 valid applications were received: statistical information on these applications is available here.
Each of the applications was assessed by two independent evaluators, specialised in the relevant artistic field.
Due to the volume of applications received, individual feedback cannot be provided to each applicant. The list of applicants who have been awarded mobility support is available here.
A second call for applications was launched on Monday 3 June (deadline: Monday 24 June 2019) and a third call will be launched on Monday 15 July 2019 (deadline: Thursday 5 September 2019).
Each call is being adapted on the strength of lessons learned in the previous call(s). On the basis of the experience gained in implementing all three Calls – advertising, applications, evaluation, selection, reporting, communication etc… – we will be in a position to produce Recommendations on how a permanent mobility scheme for individual artists and culture professionals should be established as part of the EU’s future Creative Europe Programme.
