In 2015, with CinEd, the European Commission gave its direct support for the first time to a film education project in the framework of the Creative Europe – MEDIA programme. The Institut français initiated and manages CinEd, which brings together 10 cooperation partners in 9 countries: Bulgaria, Italy, France, Spain, Lithuania, Romania, Portugal, Finland and the Czech Republic. These partnerships work to implement film education actions for young Europeans, thanks to a multilingual digital platform enabling easy and free organisation of public film showings.
In 2021, the Institut français is handing over the heritage of five years’ coordination to the Cinemateca Portuguesa, now leader of a new phase in the project entitled “CinEd 2.0”.
The Institut français is pleased to announce the list of artists and cultural professionals selected for the program NAFAS, 100 résidences d’artistes libanais en France. This emergency program is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture and six partner local authorities (Régions Sud, Hauts-de-France, Centre-Val de Loire, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, ainsi que la Ville et la Métropole de Lyon) to respond to the critical situation of artists in Lebanon.
By highlighting the initiatives of the French cultural network abroad, the Institut français invites you to take part in the Fête de la Musique 2021 !
Singer-songwriter Jeanne Cherhal has twice been invited to perform at Institut Lumière in Lyon by Thierry Frémaux. The first occasion was in 2019, as part of an homage to Francis Ford Coppola, when she performed the theme song from The Godfather. The second was the following year, when she sang Bruxelles by Dick Annegarn for the Dardenne brothers. On this third occasion, Thierry Frémaux and Jeanne Cherhal have come together to create Cinéma!, a show dedicated to songs from films.
The Institut français and its partners France Médias Monde, the Société des Auteurs, Compositeurs et Editeurs de Musique (SACEM), and the International Organisation of la Francophonie (IOF) are presenting a hybrid programme for La Fabrique Cinéma 2021, with meetings set up between foreign participants and a number of cinema professionals since the end of May. They will then continue their mentor programme in Cannes, at the Cinémas du Monde pavilion, accompanied by director Danielle Arbid.
